VISION STATEMENT FOR THE SENIOR ADULT MINISTRY OF F.B.C. OF ALABASTER
The purpose of the Senior Adult Ministry is to provide a comprehensive ministry that continues to reach Senior Adults in the Alabaster area, to enhance their lives, to encourage them to grow in the Lord, and to challenge them to serve the Lord with all of their heart, mind, soul and strength.

History - Many, many years ago, it was decided that the Senior Adult Ministry would begin with four main guidelines. The Senior Adult Ministry would be for anyone at least fifty years of age, retired, grandparents, or anyone else who wants to come.  So, there's no excuse for not joining us.  Come on down.  All we do is eat, laugh, and have a great time praising the Lord.

JOYFUL HEARTS
The name for all of our Senior Adult Ministries and Activities is "Joyful Hearts."

Joyful Hearts have T.B.A. Day Meetings that begin at 10:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall.  Sometimes we stay at the church and eat a covered dish meal, sometimes we go out to eat, and sometimes we arrange a "Day Trip" to an interesting location.

Joyful Hearts Night Meetings are at 6:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall on the 4th Mondays in the months of April, June, August and October.  The group meets on the 2nd Monday night in February in order to have the Valentines Banquet as close as possible to the date of Valentine's Day.  In December, the group meets on the 1st or 2nd Monday in order to have their Christmas Party before the rush of the holidays.

At each meeting, we have a devotion, prayer, business, music, delicious covered dish meals and wonderful programs.

Joyful Hearts Choir meets in the Choir Suite on Mondays at 10:30 a.m. from the end of August through the beginning of May.  There are usually no meetings during the summer.

We have Joyful Hearts Trips in the Spring and/or in the Fall each year.

Other One-Day Joyful Hearts Trips take place during the year.

JOYFUL HEARTS MISSION OPPORTUNITIES
In the spring each year, it is our joy to take a day to serve in coordination with Habitat for Humanity to help build a house for a needy family.  We not only work on building a house, we work on building relationships.  Men can help with light construction, and ladies can help with meals or with clean-up.

We now have an annual Joyful Hearts Mission Trip on Wednesday through Sunday of the 2nd weekend of October each year.  We serve the Lord at the Annual Shrimp Festival under the Craft Tent in the Children's Event Area, which is coordinated by the Resort Ministry of the Baldwin Baptist Association.  In 2008, we also took Prayer Requests and prayed with people at a Prayer Request Table under the same tent.  Some of our men helped put up sheetrock at the Friendship Baptist Church nearby.  We sang some Special Music one night at the Romar Beach Baptist Church, where we lodged in their Retreat Center.  In 2009, we did the same things as in 2008, except the men did light construction work at the Fish River Baptist Church, and the group sang some Special Music in the Morning Worship Service at the Romar Beach Baptist Church.  In 2010, we will be serving the Lord at the Shrimp Festival which will take place October 7-10.  We will actually leave on October 6th.

We love to put our faith into action as we share the love of God in any way that we can.  In serving, we are the ones who are truly blessed.  "Little is much when God is in it."
